Let me give you an example.  Recently a manufacturing client was having trouble writing a workable training manual on how to make an item.  Using the principle a picture is worth a thousand words we suggested trying a simple video showing someone actually doing the job.  A trial was done just using an iPhone and a skilled operator making the item, whilst talking it through, creating a basic video which was then tested on a new operator.  After one run through the newbie was up and off producing quality output first time.

We have also found many improvements come from simply asking the person doing the job what they would do differently if given the chance.  It is amazing, and empowering, how just involving your staff in ‘how can we do it better, simpler, cheaper’ will result in happier people and, best of all, bigger profits.

We have not yet found a business that didn’t have at least some processes which could be better, with a little outside help.
